Google AdWords allows you to create both text and banner advertising campaigns that are displayed next to Google search results and on websites that are part of Google’s AdSense network. After you have created your banner you can upload your banner ad to Google to quickly create an ad campaign. You can also create free banners in a number of different sizes by using Google AdWord’s Display Ad Builder.
Google AdWords only allows certain file types and file sizes to be used for banner ads. Your banner ad should be in .gif, .jpg, .png or .swf format. Google currently requires you to use one of the nine standard file sizes for your banner. You can choose from the mobile leaderboard (300-by-50), banner (468-by-60), leaderboard (728-by-90), square (250-by-250), small square (200-by-200), large rectangle (336-by-280), inline rectangle (300-by-250), skyscraper (120-by-600) and the wide skyscraper (160-by-600). If you are unsure of how to create the banner ad, consider contacting a graphic designer to help you or use Google’s Display Ad Builder.
