The Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night, taking a 3-1 lead in the series.
The Astros got on the board early with a two-run home run by Kyle Tucker in the first inning. They added two more runs in the second inning on a RBI single by Yordan Alvarez and a sacrifice fly by Alex Bregman.
The Astros’ pitching staff was dominant, with Justin Verlander and three relievers combining to allow just two runs on five hits. Verlander struck out eight batters in six innings of work.
The Phillies were unable to get much going offensively, with only two players recording multiple hits. They scored their only runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two-run home run by Kyle Schwarber.
The Astros will look to close out the World Series in Game 5 on Wednesday night. The Phillies will need to win to keep their season alive.
