In a somber turn of events, Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of ‘Freddy’ in the beloved TV series CID, bid adieu to the world on December 5 at the age of 57. The news, confirmed by his co-star Dayanand Shetty, revealed that the actor, who had become a household name through CID, succumbed to multiple organ failure at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital.

Dinesh Phadnis had been battling extensive liver damage and was on ventilator support, ultimately taking his last breath at 12:08 am. The previous night saw him being removed from the ventilator, marking the end of his struggle with health complications.

The journey of his final days unfolded as Dayanand Shetty, who shared the screen with Phadnis in CID, provided updates on the actor’s deteriorating health. The 57-year-old artist had been admitted to the hospital on December 5.

Best known for bringing ‘Fredericks’ to life in CID, Dinesh Phadnis left an indelible mark on Indian television. The show, which premiered in 1998 and ran for over two decades, featured him alongside actor Shivaji Satam, who portrayed ACP Pradyuman. Apart from CID, Phadnis made a brief appearance in the immensely popular show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’

As fans mourn the loss of a talented actor, Dinesh Phadnis’ contributions to the world of entertainment will be remembered with fondness and respect.
