Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s return to the Vikings’ lineup was short-lived after suffering a chest injury in the second quarter of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
After making a 15-yard catch, Jefferson was tackled by Raiders safety Marcus Epps, resulting in a hard hit to the chest. He exited the field and was evaluated in the medical tent before being transported to a local hospital for precautionary measures.
The Vikings have not released any further information about the severity of the injury. However, Head Coach Kevin O’Connell expressed optimism, stating that he was “encouraged about the early news” on Jefferson.
Jefferson, who missed the previous seven games with a hamstring injury, recorded two catches for 27 yards before leaving the game. His absence will be a significant blow to the Vikings’ offense as they continue their playoff push.
