Indian young batting sensation Shubman Gill has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the No. 1 batter in the latest ICC ODI Rankings. Gill, who has been in scintillating form in recent months, has displaced Pakistan’s Babar Azam to claim the top spot.
The 23-year-old Gill has been a consistent performer for India in ODIs, amassing 1122 runs at an average of 68.33 with four centuries and seven half-centuries. His recent exploits in the ODI series against West Indies and South Africa have been particularly impressive, where he scored a total of 428 runs with two centuries and two half-centuries.
Gill’s rise to the top of the ICC ODI Rankings is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and talent. He is now only the fourth Indian batter ever to achieve this milestone, joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.
Speaking to the media, Gill expressed his delight at reaching the pinnacle of the ODI rankings. “I am very happy to be the No. 1 batter in the world. It is a dream come true for me,” he said.
Gill also credited his teammates and coaches for his success. “I am grateful to my teammates and coaches for their support and guidance. I would not have been able to achieve this without them,” he added.
Gill’s achievement is a major boost for the Indian team, who are currently the world champions in ODIs. With Gill leading the way, India will be looking to continue their dominance in the format.
